Hop hop hop

Lookie here . . . a *timely* post!

Easter weekend was fun.  And busy {go figure}.  We attended a brunch with the Easter Bunny and egg hunt at the club.

And today we did church and lunch with our families (and I just realized I didn't get any pictures of my parents!  Ack!).  We hope everyone had a fabulous Easter holiday!

The "fun" of being equal but different

Kendyll had her first playdate today.  One of her BFFs from school invited her over to play for a couple of hours this morning.  Fun and simple enough, right?  But when you are part of a duo and are used to getting everything the other one gets, well, NOT being invited to a playdate when your sister is turns out to be one big ball of "fun".

This isn't the first time we've run into this.  And I'm sure it will continue to occur over & over &  over & over again.  But ugh . . . teaching that we-don't-always-get (or do)-the-same-things is "fun".

In other news, we have a MAJOR obsession with The Lorax going on around here these days.  We took B&K to see the new movie a few weeks ago, but we also have this copy of the older version.  We had never read the book before the movie came out, but Bennett especially is beyond hooked.  He knows the movie off by heart.  He plays "truffula trees" all day long and you can hear him explaining "But I am the Lorax!!  I *still* speak for the trees!!".  Too funny.  When he "reads" the book, he even hums the music from the older version of the movie.

And because I can't have an update without a picture . . . a few weeks ago we saw a picture of adorable lamb cupcakes.  Of course B&K wanted to make them, so we put Nana Debbie on it.  They turned out so adorable and SUPER yummy (though I hear they were VERY time consuming and labor intensive!).

Green Beer Day!!!

Another St. Patrick's Day has come and gone.  We've all been battling a weird cold/virus/seasonal allergies (did you know it is summer?  Yeah, it is 80-some degrees in my house as I type this and Tim mowed our yard tonight.  In March.).

It was 79 degrees on St. Patrick's day here last weekend.  For reference, 2 years ago we went out to a St. Paddy's day event and we were in a tent.  Freezing our bums off.  This year I wore open toed shoes.  And a short sleeve shirt.  No jacket!!

B&K spent the day & evening with the wicked awesome Ashley & Ava (and Andy) living it up bowling and having fun.  I pink puffy heart love Ashley for knowing how "important" March 17th is to us.  ha!  (she offered to watch them before I even had to ask.  Awesomesauce).

I thought it would be fun to showcase B&K through the years on St. Patrick's Day.  You can get an idea of how the weather was different this year . . . this was the first time B&K didn't have to wear a long sleeve shirt under their obligatory festive shirt!!

Update and Changes

The newly turned 4 yr olds in our house had their annual well child appointment two weeks ago.  I had heard rumors that there would be 4 shots and while I had not said anything to the wonder duo about them, the moment they stepped into the office Kendyll was all about asking everyone if they would be getting shots.  Our dr waiting until the last minute to spring on them that they would indeed NOT be getting shots.  Score for everyone!!  They are both growing like weeks and nothing of note to be concerned about.  I've updated their info on the sidebar.  Yes, you read that correctly . . . Kendyll has packed on almost 10 lbs in the past year.  Our tiny 4lb homegirl had grown into an appreciation of food.  And while Bennett is a major string bean, his height (which is in the 90th percentile) in some ways is a culprit to his skinny, lean body.  But he is on the charts and they both have their own growth curve, so all is good.

And with the weight {and height} growth, we finally moved them out of carseats and into booster seats in late Jan.  They.are.loving.it.  And mommy is loving finally using the built in booster seats in her car. Ha!  B&K are all about being "big kids" these days.  They one day randomly decided they no longer wanted the rails on their beds and so we took them off (and in the month or so they've had them off we've only had 2 occurrences of falling out of bed).   Another change is we've purged almost all of the sippy cups in our house (but I will admit to keeping a couple straw ones . . . just for use in the carpet areas).  B&K have been drinking out of big cups for a long time now, but my anal ways of keeping everything clean have lead us to use the straw / lid cups more often then not.   And there has been a minor shift in maturity in other ways lately too.  But I don't want to speak to soon about it for fear of jinxing us!

We have lots of other changes going on these days.  We put our house on the market.  And we just got back from vacation.  But hopefully more on those another time.  The weekend before we left for vacation we took the kids on a couple of big kid activities -- Kendyll had her first mani/pedi and Bennett went bowling {sorry for the crappy pictures . . . I hope to get a new cell phone this month, too!}.

The festivities post

Whew.  I am exhausted.  Totally exhausted.  The weekend consisted of a "friend" party, the yearly parental celebration and our family party.  Plus today B&K celebrated with their class (along with Vday) . . . all while I attempted to return order to the house and organize the toy bomb that exploded here this past weekend.

We let B&K each pick out 5 friends to invite to their party.  We held it at a cooking center just for kids.  So fun!  They made pizzas and decorated cupcakes.  And I must say, we were totally impressed at how well behaved a room of 10 four year olds listened and behaved.  It was so much fun!  And B&K were so excited to be there (and there were lots of funny parts.  At one point the "instructor" asked why everyone was there and Kendyll answered "because it is B&K's birthday!!" . . . just like that).

Of course I had to throw in a little crafty, too . . .

Saturday night Tim & I went out for our annual "we survived another year {and we are one year closer to B&K moving out}" dinner with some of our besties.  Steak and drinks and trivia . . . fun times!

Sunday we had our family party.  And B&K were spoiled rotten.  Let's just say they have enough toys to last them through next Christmas and they are going to Disney World (literally).

Today I took the day off of work to take B&K to school (and I totally forgot to take a picture of them.  All day!).  But they had a blast in their classrooms and we wrapped the day up with a Mexican feast.  I'm actually looking foward to going back to work tomorrow -- I need the break!

Four

Let me be the first to give the age of three a swift kick in the you-know-where as it leaves.  Buh-buy, can't wait to move on, thank goodness I'll never have 3 year olds again.  :D

We had a busy weekend celebrating B&K's big day.  More to come on that later.  Today they are going to school and celebrating not only their 4th bday, but also Vday (gag).   I expect them home hopped up on sugar.  Lots & lots of sugar.

And so it begins . . .

The birthday month celebrations, that is.  First up, front-row seats at Disney On Ice!   This was B&K's birthday present from us and they had a blast.  Kendyll wore her Belle dress and whenever Belle would skate on the ice she would scream: "BELLE!!!  I'M WEARING YOU!!  I'M WEARING YOUR DRESS!!!!".
