B & K survived their 12 month pedi appointment . . . and their round of needle pricks (barely). Yah, heads up to mommies who haven't yet experienced the 12 mo appointment -- it.is.not.fun!! And poor B&K -- they had to endure further testing b/c we live in a really old house . . . they will be tested for lead, too. Fun times.
Updated weights are to the right. We're a little disappointed -- we thought for sure they would both be over 20 lbs, but they are close. We'll probably flip around their carseats in soon regardless (shhh, don't tell, but they've already been riding around this way in Lauren's car -- she drives a little 2 door and we gave the go ahead to make the flip). Now when they get in my car they're like "hey mom . . . what's up with the backwards riding? we're big kids now!".
As we suspected B is getting referred for PT/OT. Little dude just isn't where he should be in the crawling/pulling up/moving around category. Can't really blame him -- he's still incredibly disproportionate (weight 6%, head 97%), but we know he'll grow into that darn head soon (which the pedi informed us will still grow a bit . . . his fontanel is not yet closed). He needs to build up strength in his arms & legs and hopefully the PT will help.
K is doing great. She is crawling all.over.the.place and pulling.up.on.EVERYTHING! Sigh. Honestly I'm a little glad B isn't into the mobility thing yet . . . the longer we can hold off the better in my book!
Both babies can have whole milk now and have been given the green light to eat whatever they like (insert TI song hook here :) ). They have been pretty good eaters so far . . . last weekend they ate some guacamole and refried beans (blech!).
Our computer has an illness, so no new pictures tonight.
Wow your little ones are adorable. I am stopping by from Rachels blog.
ReplyDeleteThe PT/OT will help so much, we have been going since 6 months.

At least the pedi appt is over and you don't have to go back for awhile! our pedi told us at the 9 month that 12 mo is rough. :( Not looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the PT will help B get movin'. I'm sure K is loving going all over while B is sitting still!
Oooh, this makes me a little nervous for the girls' 12 month appt. YIKES!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure that B will be on the move with a little help from PT. Even though you are secretly enjoying only have one on the move...it's pretty funny when they chase each other, so get ready! :)
I hope that the PT will get B moving in the right direction! He will be crawling and walking before you know it. It is actually easier in some aspects of it when they both are walking!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the PT! I can't believe they are old enough to face the front.
ReplyDeleteHey, not to be that guy, but if Bennett's head is still that much larger than his body it's still safest for him to be RF. It only takes a little jerk of those big ol melons for bad bad things to happen :( You know I wouldn't preach at ya if I didn't do it myself.
ReplyDeleteB will love PT-- a therapist just comes and plays with him, all him! He will love the one on one attention. The girls got it too, and graduated in 6 months!
Your B sounds like my Eli and the big head thing definitely slowed him down a bit but he is doing great now. Our developmental assessment specialists said that it was as much his laid back personality as his head that slowed him down. Good luck I hope that it goes well! Those 1 year check ups are a bit insane. Glad you survived.
