Ugh. Between sickness, two car accidents (mine worse than Tim's) and couple other random things, 2010 isn't off to a super hot start. Add to it that we learned this week we have not one but TWO fricken ice dams on our house. Water was gushing into our master bedroom on Wednesday and leaking through to our kitchen. Water in the walls, coloring our granite, coming through the window and soaking our carpet. Ugh. After a dramatic effort by me & Tim (and later Tim & his dad) we were able to break up some of the ice in and hanging from our gutters the dripping seemed to stop. Then on Thursday we discovered a similar situation in our master closet. Water all over our clothes, shoes and again soaking the carpet. Yuck! Tim has pulled up the carpet in both areas and we've had a 40 degree day today which has helped melt some stuff. Needless to say, we have an insurance adjuster coming out on Tuesday. And he says he's been REALLY busy with similar claims in our area. Have I mentioned lately that I hate winter?!? As my friend Christy asked me this week -- yes, it is times like this that I really miss Huntington Beach, CA!To help ease that drama, we've been blessed with visits from friends bearing gifts for B&K's birthday this weekend. Totally unexpected, but so nice nonetheless! Yesterday Lauren & her husband came by to say "hi" and brought B&K two adorable retro FP toys. They haven't put them down. And today our good friends, the Thornhills, came over to play for a bit and they brought some goodies, too! This on top of all the loot B&K scored last week is putting them in new toy overload! It helps us to get through the rough winter days, though (see post snow post from earlier this month). :) I mentioned a while back that I've done a little updating to B&K's room. We aren't quite ready to move them to big kid beds (thanks to sleep sacks they haven't really tied to escape. Yet.). And when we do the big transition we plan to move them to their own rooms. I'm betting we'll probably do this sometime after our vacation this spring (because I don't want to start the whole potty training nightmare until they are in big beds). Ugh, that reminds me of another transition we're starting to look into, too . . . preschool. But I'll save that for another post. Anyhoo, we've "refreshed" B&K's room with a new tree/owl/bird theme. Fitting since when you look out their room it is like they are in a tree house with the two GIANT trees in our front yard right outside their room. Fun! I found B's stuff at Target (including most of the wall decals) and K's stuff came from PBK, but I actually bought them on ebay. Enjoy the pics!

We took B&K to the pedi yesterday for their 2 year appointment (in the snow storm. Fun times!). Dr. R was super impressed with B&K's progress. He made mention that some 2 yr olds can't point out their body parts, while B&K wowed him with their mad body pointing skillz. Big news is that Bennett is in the 75th percentile for height (and 6th for weight. Ha!). We knew he was a giant tall skinny dude. Updated stats are on the sidebar.
Happy Birthday to Bennett & Kendyll!! Welcome to the big 0-2!!
We have a very low-key birthday planned for the wonder duo. We're going to their favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch with Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Papa & Uncle Mark. Then we'll celebrate with cake after their naps. {then Tim & I plan to go out & celebrate another year of survival Saturday night!}. No big party this year . . . just simple fun shared with the people we love most.
Quite literally, actually. Apparently yesterday was a day of constant diaper and clothing changes for B&K. Fun times for Ashley (sorry A!!). There has also been a constant flood of snot running from B&K's noses. I'm not sure if we call this teething (2 yr molars) or a cold . . . good news is they are in good moods, for the most part. We'll see . . .I really hope everyone is on the mend (regardless of what is ailing us) by the weekend. We have a big 2nd birthday party to go to on Saturday (happy birthday Will & Sam!!) and then we are having a few friends over for the Super Bowl on Sunday (go Saints!! Woo-hoo!). :)Not much else new going on here. I had a taste of the stay at home mom life last week as A was under the weather. Let's just say I'm SSOOOOOO thankful that wasn't this week (b/c I don't know that I could handle snotty / crabby / poopy B&K as well I did last week -- they were pretty much perfect angels). Over the weekend A was nice enough to take B&K Saturday morning for us and we had plans to go out with some friends Saturday night, so a good time was had by all. Let's see . . . I promised a massive update on B&K a while back, huh? Yeah, I suck. Sorry! They are chatty all the time now. New phrases include "oh no!!!" and "I love u" as well as a slew of other words said with great purpose that no one can understand but B or K. Yes, my worst fear is coming true -- our kids are trying to communicate with us, but I have no effing clue what they are saying. Oh well! Let's see if I can come up with a few cute ones (b/c you are getting no pictures in this post, sorry!):- "B booped!!! B booped!!" K to me as I walked into their room after a nap last week (calling out her brother's messy diaper in the crib next to her while pointing at B).- "I booped mama" K to me last night as she woke up in the middle of the night . . . but she really hadn't messed her diaper. Thanks K!- "Ova" (aka Ava) when I ask B who is his friend who plays with him during the day - "Elmo!! Elmo!!! Elmo!!!!" B & K any time they are near the TV. A close second is "Dabba Dabba".- "hi-ya Daddy", "Where's Daddy?" "DAAAADDDEEEEE!!!!!" -- spoken a bagillion times by both of them while Tim was traveling last week and I was staying at home. They would point to his picture, his clothes, his shoes and repeat this over & over again. Ask them who I am (or point to me in a picture) -- dead silence. Thanks kids!- Kendyll loves to feed Tabasco. She's helped me by carrying his bowl a couple of times. Yesterday she went over to his bowl -- unprompted -- picked it up, carried it over to the closet where we keep Tabasco's food and screamed "MORE!!!" at Tim. He scooped some food in there and she carried his bowl back to the stand.- Bennett is obsessed with washing his hands in the sink. If he sees me head to the bathroom he'll follow behind me in a zombie-like state screaming "WASH! WASH! WASH!" until I pick him up to wash his hands. Of course K follows closely behind him doing the same thing (so note to grandparents still looking for gift ideas for B&K . . . maybe a special kiddie step stool for washing hands!). :)Ok, I think that is all for now. I will do my best to get some new pics up soon. I swear!
