30 Weeks -- Hit the Wall

So you know all of my previous posts about bedrest not really being that bad?? This week I feel like that is a load of crap! Yes, folks, it has officially happened . . . yesterday at 30w4d I hit the wall. Thanks to all of those I frantically called yesterday looking for support (and those who, like a psychic, somehow knew to call me to check in on me) -- I am happy to say that I made it through the day. I don't know why it hit me yesterday or what is different, but I was really starting to get claustrophobic and have mini panic attacks -- i.e. if I watch the "Today" show or HGTV for one more minute I am going to go insane and that every room in my house was closing in on me!! I want to again stress that I know that I am VERY blessed to have been able to stay at home this entire time and I am very grateful for cable TV & having a laptop (a friend of mine from college was in the exact same boat as me last fall and didn't have either . . . so I feel guilty complaining!). I think part of my problem this week is that I don't have any doctor's appointments -- which I can't believe I am even saying! Since I've been staying the same at each of my appointments, my OB told me last week I didn't have to come back for 2 weeks, which originally made me excited because every week it has been like a roller coaster -- will they send me back to the hospital or do I get to come back home? So I was excited to think about not having to go through that for two whole weeks! But then it occurred to me that it would also mean that I would not be able to leave the house for two whole weeks -- yikes! I guess it is a blessing & a curse!

So I'm trying now to focus on a few fun / positive things. My cousin is going to come for a "slumber" party tomorrow night while Tim is traveling for work. Many of my girlfriends are also coming over tomorrow to have dinner with me at my house. My parents may come down for a visit sometime this week and a few of my co-workers are coming out to have lunch with me on Friday. I am so thankful for all of the support and I just need to refocus on that!

I also want to give a big shout-out to Tim, once again. Not only does he have the stress of learning a new job and having to do ALL of the work around the house, he also has to put up with crazy old me! Poor guy came home last night to me in tears, insisting that I was totally fine and just having a bad day! If any of his "boys" are reading this blog, I've promised him a guys weekend whenever he wants after the babies are here wherever he wants -- our house, Chicago, Vegas, etc. I know this won't even begin to "thank" him for all he has done, but at least it can give him something to look forward to, also! :-)

Ok, enough babble. I am fine, the babies are fine, Tim is great (I think) and we will get through this. I'm just having a rough week for some reason. . . actually, now that I think about it I normally get these winter 'blues', so compound it with the fact that I'm stuck on bedrest and it is no wonder I'm a basket case these days! :-) Just four more weeks until our big goal . . . we can make it!

Love you all!

29 Weeks

I am 29 w 5 d today . . . just two days away from our next goal of 30 weeks!! We had a good doctor's appointment yesterday. A HUGE thanks to Tim's mom, Debbie, for being my chauffeur yesterday. She sat with me through the 3 hour glucose test -- YUCK -- as well as served as my good luck charm at my dr appointment. I don't know what we would do without the amazing support of our families -- both live TWO hours away! My mom & aunts came down the week before to take me to my two doctors appointments as well. THANK YOU!! I'm happy to report that everything has stayed stable throughout my bed rest. As a result, I get to stay at home on bedrest (yeah!) AND I don't have to go back to the doctor again for two weeks!!! That will actually be a big week . . .we'll see the OB one day for a routine check and later that week we will see the high-risk specialist for another growth scan. Another big BONUS (and something to look forward to) -- if I continue to maintain or not drastically change by the next OB appointment at 32 weeks, my doctor will let me "relax" my bedrest rules a bit. I was sharing with her yesterday that a few friends of mine are planning vacations soon and I would really just kill to get my haircut and be able to go to Target (even in a wheelchair) -- I told her that I have been a model at home bedrest patient and other than trips to the dr office or Riverside Hospital I have not been out of the house since DEC 12!!!! I think she thought I looked pitiful and gave me this grain of hope to get me through the next two weeks. Of course, I'll see a totally different doctor next time (although one we've seen several times throughout the pregnancy and by far our favorite), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

I am so relieved that we have almost made it to 30 weeks and I can't believe I have been stuck on this couch for almost 6 weeks!!! It really hasn't been too bad . . . I try to find little projects to keep me busy every day. I have really appreciated those who have stopped by to visit and/or bring food (yeah!) as well as all of the calls & e-mails.

Last weekend was a busy one for us. My mom and aunts threw a little baby shower for me at my house with a few friends and family members. It was really nice and I'm so glad I was able to experience the "shower" thing. :-) While the ladies were oohing & ahhing over baby stuff, the guys were putting together the nursery furniture. It looks really great and now we just need to finish finding a place for everything and decorating (as I've been told by friends with children, babies need a LOT of stuff . . . now multiply it by two!!!). One of the things I've really been looking forward to is setting up the nursery (I LOVE to organize and decorate!) . . . so as a treat to myself, Sunday night I sat in the glider in the nursery and Tim and his mom took my direction on where to put most of the items we received. :-) It was very fun! I'll be sure to post some pictures once we get everything finalized.

That is all for now. I will be sure to post an update next week, even though we don't have an appointment (fingers crossed that I continue to feel the same). Thanks as always for the well wishes, support, love, thoughts and prayers!!

PS -- the time on these posts are whack and I can't figure out how to update my time zone . . . it is actually 9:05 am . . .not 5 am!!! :-)

28 Weeks

We survived our doctor's appointments last week and I'm happy to report that everything looks good and I'm still at home on bedrest. At our growth scan last week we learned that both babies have gained almost a pound in a month -- Baby A (boy) is at 2lbs 5 oz and his sister, Baby B is out-weighing him a bit at 2lbs 8oz. We will go again in 4 weeks for another growth scan and I already have an appointment set up, which gives me a new "goal" to look forward to!

So speaking of Baby A & Baby B, naturally the question on everyone's minds is "do you have any names picked out". Technically, yes -- we are 95% sure of our names but have chosen to keep them a surprise for various reasons. The two big ones are:

A. We don't want to be persuaded / dissuaded by the well-intentioned opinions of our friends and family.

B. We reserve to change our minds at the last minute. :-)

I can share, much to the dismay of my Dad and Aunt Kathy, that the names will NOT be Scarlet and Grayson (they are the OSU fanatics in our family!). :-)

I think that is all for now. I will post more soon. As always, thank you so much for all of the support, thoughts and prayers!

Tales from bedrest -- 27 weeks

Ok, so I've finally decided to check out this blogging thing. I figure this will be a good way to keep everyone updated on the Williams Twins and post a few pictures of our progress. I feel so modern & hip now! :-)

So for those who may not of heard, I was placed on strict bedrest four weeks ago. I am 27w 5d pregnant today. I hit my "weekly turnover" date every Thursday, so that is a big milestone to look forward to each week. I am still on bedrest at home (thank God!), but a weekly visit to the doctor could easily send me back to Riverside Hospital (like last week) at any point. I am hoping to switch doctors to the high-risk perinatologist soon -- Tim & I really like him and we're getting pretty tired of the "round robin" style of my OB's office (read: we get to see whatever doctor is in the office that week and each doctor has a different opinion / style and it is getting really frustrating -- especially when they send us to the high risk doctor if there is a problem anyway). Thankfully everything has been staying the same for the most part, so the bedrest seems to be working. We really appreciate all of the thoughts & prayers and we are still setting goals along the way. . . first up is to hit 28 weeks (two days to go!), next will be 30, then 32 and anything beyond that will be great (ideally I'd like to get to 35 weeks - around 2/28).

Bedrest so far hasn't been too bad (famous last words). I was able to stay home over the holidays and our wonderful families changed plans and came to us for Christmas. It was very nice. I'm sure now that all of that excitement is over the true boredom of bedrest will set in soon. I spend most of my days watching HGTV & TLC (I've remodeled every room in our house in my mind!). I'd love to read more or spend time learning to knit something other than a scarf, but honestly it pretty hard to do anything comfortably other than nap or watch TV while laying on my left side. Oh well . . . everyone keeps telling me to enjoy this as much as I can while it lasts because I won't see much TV or sleep after the babies are here. I'm trying to take that to heart (although I can safely say that I will probably RARELY sit on my couch after all of this time laying around on it!).

I've had a few people ask for pictures, and while I haven't kept up on a weekly basis, I'll include a few here. My "big" shower was this past weekend in Canton hosted by my mom and mother-in-law (both are AMAZING!); unfortunately I was not able to attend in person, but thanks to my Aunt Regina I did "attend" online -- she sent me picture updates from her phone. My "super-husband" sucked-it-up and sacrificed a little of his manhood to attend in my place. I've included a picture of that as well -- the really cute "Two Peas in a Pod" cake from the event is at the top of the page. Since I couldn't attend, Tim took a picture of me in what would have been my shower outfit and shared it with the guests. :-)

Enough babble for now. Our next doctor appointment is Friday, which will include a growth scan. We are very anxious to see how big the babies have grown in the past month (they previously measured at 1lb 7oz each). I will post more updates soon.
